About Shameka

Metro Councilwoman Shameka Parrish-Wright is a longtime Louisville community leader who’s running for mayor with a simple promise: responsibility comes first, and serving the people always. Announcing her campaign on her birthday, she’s stepping up after deep conversations across neighborhoods—ready to lead on day one with courage, character, and consistency.

Shameka’s vision sees public safety as more than enforcement. It includes housing people, preparing for natural disasters, fixing roads, investing in mental health, and making sure every neighborhood and the business community feel seen and supported. Grounded in integrity, co-governance, and community-driven solutions, her campaign is building a people-powered coalition so Louisville can be an affordable home base where people can stay, grow, work, and retire with dignity.

Vision for Louisville

Shameka Parrish-Wright’s vision is a Louisville that works for everyday people, not just the well-connected. It is a city where government shows up, listens, and delivers with transparency and urgency. She believes the city’s biggest challenges are connected, so the solutions must be connected too. Public safety should include housing people, strengthening mental health supports, preparing for natural disasters, fixing roads and infrastructure, and investing in neighborhoods so every community, including the business community, feels seen and supported.
